Series editors Geoffrey Dabelko and Brandon Kendhammer seek innovative proposals from scholars and practitioners in human security at the local, national, and transnational levels. The series concerns itself with the lived experience of people in zones of conflict as well as with theoretical and methodological innovations in the field.
Broad categories of interest include
- Human security as a conceptual framework: trends, challenges, and prospects
- Food security: malnutrition, food deserts, conflict-driven famine
- Economic security: access to resources, neocolonialism, large-scale economic crises, microfinance, poverty, corruption, inequality, politics of development and international aid
- Health security: infectious diseases, access to health services, water and sanitation, health and conflict
- Environmental security: climate change, natural resource distribution, pollution, geography of conflict
- Personal security: crime, smuggling, human trafficking, refugees and asylum seekers, gender and conflict
- Community security: ethnic conflict, religious conflict, minority rights, race and discrimination, genocide, humanitarian/military interventions, postconflict justice, population displacement
- Political security: human rights, discrimination, systematic torture, repression, disappearances, courts and tribunals, truth and reconciliation, fragile or failed states
The Series in Human Security is published in association with Ohio University’s War and Peace Studies and African Studies programs at the Center for International Studies and the Environmental Studies Program at the Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Service.
